Bumpy Pitch x Red Bull 9-24-10

Friday, September 24th, 2010

If you search the Interwebs this week for what is taking place in Major League Soccer, you will undoubtedly stumble upon lots of chatter about tonight’s LA Galaxy v New York Red Bull matchup. Hashtags with #LAvsNY have been making heavy rounds on Twitter, banter amongst fans has been thick and a general excitement is in the air for a game that not only features teams from the two biggest markets, but a game that will feature numerous Designated Players.

To mark the occasion, we were asked by the good folks at Red Bull to create a graphic that payed tribute to the night and the matchup, all while having some fun and giving thanks.

If you tune into tonight’s game, or happen to be at the stadium, you will notice an entire section sporting these shirts and enjoying the game to the fullest. In many ways that’s what this graphic is about. Enjoying the game and being thankful. As far as we see it, that’s exactly what we should all be doing with the sport.

This is the second time we have been blessed to collaborate with Red Bull, and this time around we get to give away a full size run of these limited edition graphics. These will never be available for purchase anywhere and we like to believe they will be a collector’s item for those that get them. So if you want one, we got you covered (or at least five of you). Just leave a comment with your size and your best argument as to why you should get the shirt. We’ll be giving one away in every size.

And if you happen to be at the game tonight, come find us. We’ll have some goodies on hand to pass out while supplies last.

Shades of the Past

Monday, September 20th, 2010

You just never know what you’re going to find when you spend some time digging around at vintage stores. I was in Silverlake over the weekend and we hit a couple stores to check out vintage sunglasses and to see if there was anything inspiring from the past. Then I see these gems from the 1986 World Cup in Mexico. The store owner starts telling me how they were made for some event that took place in Mexico and that they are an authentic pair from the era. I had no reason to doubt him. I can’t see there being huge demand for knockoff or re-production of Mexico 86 sunglasses. But then again, I could be wrong.

Either way, these were pretty incredible. I thought about buying a couple pairs on general principle, but I held out. Somehow I think they will still be there if and when I go back

Cesc Fabregas Goal Against Sunderland – English Premier League

Saturday, September 18th, 2010

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that this will end up being one of the most interesting / luckiest / random goals that Cesc Fabregas will end up scoring in his career. It doesn’t matter how they go in, all that matters is that they go in.

Inspired By – Black and White Photography

Friday, September 17th, 2010

It’s kind of a gray morning here on the left coast, which got me thinking abut black and white photography for some reason. So I dug through the archives of some of the photos that you guys have sent in or that we have taken. Some were already B&W, and a few I flipped real quick to make B&W. All are pretty inspiring. I hope you think so too.

All photos were submitted by TOW readers or taken by us. Thanks for sending them in!

Rewind

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

Summer 2010 was a busy one. First and foremost the world Cup kept as busy as fans, with product and with The Original Winger. As is usually the case, the World Cup ended before I was ready for it to, but that only means that the big European seasons would be back in action soon. Before we get cracking on all things fall and holiday, here’s a quick look back at some of the things that took place this summer.

Back At It

Monday, September 13th, 2010

Been away from the blog for a minute. I can try and give a lot of reasons why, but I’m going to stay away from all the excuses, and just get back to it. So the Bumpy Pitch blog is officially back on the market.

Since we last spoke a lot has been going down. I’ll start breaking all that down shortly and get everyone caught up on some of the latest happenings. I think you will all be happy with some of the new products we are currently working on and some of the upcoming releases that are in the pipeline. In the meantime, the $20 World Cup sale is still on, although there is very little product left. If there is a World Cup shirt you want, I would suggest picking one up before they are officially gone for good.
