Magic Johnson Joins NWSL's Washington Spirit As Investor

As further evidence of what is taking place within the sport, Magic Johnson has just been announced as the latest investor in the Washington Spirit. Magic has been a major investor in professional sports since he retirement from the NBA. He has now turned his attention to the Washington Spirit

According to Magic:

"I'm excited to join the Washington Spirit's investor group at such a pivotal time in the club's history," Johnson said in a statement.

"Partnering with a visionary like Michele Kang and her team to advance the growth of the Washington Spirit and the NWSL is an incredible opportunity. I'm excited to join the team and play my part to help elevate this organization."

Since Michelle Kang took over as the owner of the Washington Spirit in what was a $35 million tranasction, the team has flourished, the league has continued to grow and the valuation of NWSL teams have skyrocketed.

The futire of the sport and the league seem to be in very good hands and headed in an incredible direction.
